Obituary of Edward Consbruck
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
EDWARD CONSBRUCK
Edward Consbruck, son of William J. and Margaret (Dempewolf) Consbruck, was born March 31, 1938, in Hastings, Nebraska, and passed away July 21, 2014, in Norton, Kansas, at the age of 76.
Ed grew up in the Hastings community and attended the Roseland High School. Early in his life he enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in Korea during the conflict and was a disable veteran. His country and service were always a source of pride for him. Following his discharge, he returned to Hastings where he was a restaurant business owner for many years. He later moved to Almena, Kansas, with his companion, Patty Martin. Ed was an avid traveler who loved the road and he and Patty traveled extensively before she lost her battle with cancer in 2001.
Ed never met a stranger and he had been known to frequently help people stranded on the road or just someone he saw that was in need. He truly was one who would give the shirt off of his back. His presence in all of our lives will truly be missed.
Survivors include: five children, Troy Consbruck, Garden City, Kansas; Todd Consbruck, West Point, Nebraska; Patricia Hooks, Hebron, Nebraska; Mary Luna and William Thompson, both of Fairbury, Nebraska; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Florence Lovell, Irvine, California; one step-daughter, Debbie McGinnis, Bolivar, Missouri; Patty's children, Cliff Martin, Ellsworth, Kansas; Tony Martin, Enid, Oklahoma; and Scott Martin, Flower Mound, Texas; other relatives and friends.
Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his companion, Patty, three brothers, Bill Jr., Loe, and Nick, and two sisters, Betty and Lorraine.
