Obituary of Mary V. Schoen
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
MARY V. SCHOEN
Mary V. Schoen, daughter of James Edgar and Ercelle (Nowell) Richardson, was born June 28, 1924, in Johnston County, North Carolina, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas, on July 7, 2014, at the age of 90.
Mary grew up in North Carolina and attended the Corinth Holder High School in Johnston County, North Carolina. She also attended the St. Paul Bible Institute in St. Paul, Minnesota. Mary was an ordained minister and was very active with her mission work which had her traveling to several communities. On March 12, 1964, Mary and Alvin Schoen were united in marriage in Los Animas, Colorado. They made their home in Norton until Alvin's death April 15, 1982. Mary remained in Norton until her death.
Mary was a member of the First Church of God in Norton. She fished, hunted, and enjoyed many different sports especially bowling. She had a great love for her family and friends.
Survivors include: her step-daughter and husband, Joyce and Lee Preston, Norton; two grandchildren, Beverely Miller, Norton; Gary and wife, Terry Ritter, Riley County, Kansas; five great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren; one niece, Brenda, and husband, Warren Bailey, Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina; one great-nephew, Chris Bailey, Wrightsville Beach, North Carolina; one great-niece, Ashley Bailey Fuller, and husband, David Fuller, Raleigh, North Carolina; other relatives and many friends.
Mary was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one brother, James Nowell Richardson, one sister, Edna Earle Godwin, and one step-daughter, Ila Marie Ritter.
A memorial has been established to the Mary Schoen Memorial Fund.
