Walter L. "Red" LeBeau, son of Ira E. and Mary (Whitcraft) LeBeau, was born April 1, 1933 in Norton County, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, on May 26, 2014, at the age of 81.
Red grew up in Norton County where he attended rural schools and later obtained his G.E.D. He enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps in February 1954, and was stationed in Japan and Hawaii. On June 7, 1959, Red and Kay Hall were united in marriage in Lenora, Kansas. They made their home near Dellvale and northeast Norton County where they farmed and raised livestock. In 2008, they moved into Norton.
Red was a member of the St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church in Norton and the Knights of Columbus, the Harmonson-Redd American Legion Post #63, and the Eagles Lodge. Red had a great love for his family and was well known by all his friends as quite a jokester. He was always one to help out a friend or neighbor whenever needed without ever asking for anything in return. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.
