Obituary of Esther Ellis
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
ESTHER F. ELLIS
Esther Fern Ellis, daughter of Clarence and Dora (Sidman) Carr, was born December 15, 1916, in Lenora, Kansas, and passed away in the Andbe Home in Norton, Kansas on April 6, 2014, at the age of 97.
Esther was born and raised in Lenora, Kansas and attended Lenora schools. On April 24, 1937, Vale Ellis and Esther Carr were united in marriage in Norton, Kansas. They made their home in Rexford, Kansas until 1941 when they moved to Lincoln, Nebraska. In 1942 they moved to Buffalo, New York and later returned to Norton in 1944.
Esther was a teacher in the country schools. She was a member of many clubs including the Lenora FCE, and she was also in Eastern Star.
Survivors include: four daughters, Virginia and Jeff Douglass, Fort Collins, Colorado; Mary and Jim Rowley, Lenora, Kansas; Dorothy and Terry Cary, Juneau, Alaska; and Connie and Ken Bott, Dorr, Michigan; one son, William and Lavera Ellis, Sheridan Wyoming; three sisters, Doris Clydesdale, Norton, Kansas; Ruth Boatman, Paonia, Colorado; Elsie Shaffer, Buhl, Idaho; eleven grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.
Esther was preceded in death by her parents, husband Vale Ellis, and her sister Alice Brooks.
