Obituary of Walta Wanda Russ

IN LOVING MEMORY OF WALTA W. RUSS Walta Wanda Russ, daughter of Walter and Inez (Driggs) Hunter, was born November 1, 1925, in Edmond, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, Kansas, on August 17, 2013, at the age of 87. Walta grew up in the Edmond community and graduated from the Edmond High School. She married Edward Fredde in Norton on November 4, 1943, and she later married Millard "Dude" Russ on December 6, 1961, in Norton. During her life she and her family lived in the Edmond and Lenora communities before moving to Norton. Walta was not only a homemaker but also a hotel owner, caf owner, nurse aide in Logan, and school cook, She also helped her husband, Dude, with the Standard station. Walta enjoyed doing genealogy, crocheting, knitting, reading, and yard work. She had also served as a Boy Scout Leader. Survivors include: four children, Lova and (Sherral) Perkins, Lenora; Connie Morris, Shelton, Washington; Terri (Wayne) Capps, Kirwin, Kansas; and Walter Russ, Lenora; two brothers-in-law, Veral Montgomery, Hays, Kansas; and Jim (Mildred) Bottomly, Wakeeney, Kansas; nine grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. Walta was preceded in death by her parents, her two husbands, and one sister, Enid Billips. Memorials may be made to Walta Russ Memorial Fund.
