Obituary of Janice Jane Clark

IN LOVING MEMORY OF JANICE J. CLARK Janice Jane Clark, daughter of James H. and Dana (Wilcox) Hursh, was born July 30, 1916, in Superior, Nebraska, and passed away at her home at Whispering Pines in Norton, Kansas, on May 31, 2013, at the age of 96. Janice graduated from the Superior High School in 1934. She was the assistant librarian at the Dale Carnegie Library in Superior from 1938 until 1941, when she went to Wichita, Kansas, to work at the Boeing Airplane Company. On October 3, 1942, Janice and Alfred Lee Clark were united in marriage at the College Hill Methodist Church parsonage in Wichita. They made their home in Wichita, and in 1943, Alfred was called to duty in the U.S. Army. Following his discharge they moved to a farm near Burr Oak, Kansas, where they farmed until the spring of 1953, when they moved to a farm six miles east of Clayton, Kansas. Alfred passed away February 18, 1979, and in 1983, Janice moved into Norton, where she lived until her death. Janice was a member of the United Methodist Church in Clayton and was a longtime member of the L.D. Club in Clayton. She enjoyed sewing and other craft hobbies as well as her flower gardening which she took great pride in. Survivors include: two nieces, Patty, and husband Art Christensen, Valencia, California; Janet Revare, Kansas City, Missouri; a special cousin, Roberta Gerdes, Kearney, Nebraska; special friends, Weldon and Merrice Brooks and Darrell and Kathie Skrdlant, all of Norton; Mary Alexander, Salina, Kansas; other relatives and friends. Janice was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, five sisters, and one brother. Memorials may be made to Clayton United Methodist Church.
