Obituary of Beverly Ann Posson
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
BEVERLY A. POSSON
Beverly Ann (Applegate) Posson, was born May 6, 1942, in Norton, Kansas. Beverly died peacefully in her home on March 11, 2013.
Beverly, youngest daughter of Galen and Emma Applegate, grew up on a farm northwest of Norton. The Applegate family was members of the Maple Grove Church of the Brethren. She attended country school through 8th grade and graduated from Norton Community High School. Beverly married her high school sweetheart, David Lawrence Posson; they had recently celebrated their 51st anniversary. She knew no other home besides Norton, where she and David raised three sons, Mike, Don, and Mark.
Beverly worked for several years at Stapleton's Drug Store. For over 45 years, many in this community knew Beverly behind the counter at L.J. Messers/Big A Auto Parts store, which eventually became Car Quest. She began at the parts store as a part-time bookkeeper and became store manager before retiring. This career complimented very well Dave and Bev's 50 year hobby and passion for rebuilding, restoring, and customizing cars, and being constantly involved in a circle of car enthusiasts. Bev loved people and socializing. She thrived within a family gathering or a circle of car enthusiasts, or old or new friends. Simply sitting around chatting and laughing was at the heart of Bev's fulfillment. She enjoyed being part a part of her community. At an early age she was actively involved in 4-H all the way through her school years. After marrying David and having children, she bowled in a community league, became a Cub Scout Den leader, became a member of the board of education, a member of the Norton Prairie Powder Packer Muzzleloaders, was secretary of the Norton Car Club, a member of the NW Kansas Cruisers, President of the Norton Pollyanna Club, and treasurer of the Norton Eagles Ladies Auxiliary. Beverly also took an immense pride in the life pursuits and accomplishments of her children and grandchildren.
Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two infant brothers, Verl Lee and Donald Gene.
Survivors include: three sons, Michael, of Edmonton, Alberta, Canada; Don, and wife, Heidi, of Alexandria, Virginia; Mark, and wife, LuAnne, of Wichita, Kansas; five beloved grandchildren, Logan, Paige, Hannah, Matthew, and Luke; two sisters, Gloria, and husband, Larry Havens, of Superior, Nebraska; Naomi, and husband, C.L. Adams, of Cuba, Kansas; one brother, David, and wife, Carol Applegate, of Amarillo, Texas; other relatives and many friends.
Memorials have been established to the Norton Pollyanna Club and the Ladies Auxilliary of the Norton Order Fraternal Order of Eagles.
