Obituary of Burnidean Olive Horning

IN LOVING MEMORY OF BURNIDEAN O. HORNING Burnidean Olive Horning, daughter of Oscar and Josephine (Corn) Whetstone, was born November 4, 1927, in Norton, Kansas, and passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, on March 8, 2013, at the age of 85. Burnidean grew up in Norton County and attended the Norton schools. She married Gerald Horning in 1944, and they made their home in Norton County where they farmed and she was a homemaker. Gerald passed away September 1, 1994. Burnidean was a member of the Norton Christian Church. She enjoyed quilting, cooking, gardening, and she loved her friends. She also did upholstering, building cabinets, and cleaning houses. She was a woman of strong faith and gladly took care of others when they needed her. Her son, Quentin, lovingly remembers saying to her, "Yes, Mother, whatever you say!" Survivors include: two sons and their wives, Quentin and Renee Horning, Mulvane, Kansas; Frank and Michelle Horning, Mulberry, Kansas; two daughters, Belinda Horning, Lake Havasu, Arizona; Nonya Horning, Wichita, Kansas; seven grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Aline Awalt, Denver, Colorado; Jackie Gebhart, Atlanta, Georgia; other relatives and friends. Burnidean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Jeris, and two sisters. A memorial has been established to Gather The Outcast Ministry.
