Obituary of Dorothy Joan Chandler
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
DOROTHY J. CHANDLER
Mrs. Chandler was born October 8, 1938 in Phillips County, Kansas, to Alonzo and Jesse (Gates) Woodard, and passed away December 14, 2012, in Hays, Kansas. Upon the death of her mother, Mrs. Chandler moved to Almena, Kansas, where she attended Almena schools and grew to adulthood. Mrs. Chandler married Keith W. Chandler December 26th 1956 in Norton, Kansas where they began their family. The Chandlers moved to and resided in Ashland, Kansas from 1968 to 1971. The Chandlers then moved to Valley Center, Kansas where Mrs. Chandler was employed by the Twin Lakes Bank in Wichita. When the opportunity arose, the Chandlers returned home to Almena where Mrs. Chandler was employed by the Almena State Bank. Upon the passing of her husband and with declining health, Mrs. Chandler moved to Hays, Kansas to live out her life closer to family. Mrs. Chandler was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Keith, a brother Vernon Woodard and a sister Vivian Cruz. She is survived by her son Fred (Lori) Chandler of Sedgwick, her daughters Kristi (Sam) Schnuerle of Hays, Karla (Bart) Kenton of Hays, Karen (Lauren) Kats of Silver Lake and 11 grandchildren. Also surviving are brothers Robert (Vanette) Woodard of Overland Park, Louis (Sharon) Woodard of Phillipsburg and sister Delores Lessor of Richland, Washington.
