Obituary of Dean A. Railsback
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
DEAN A. RAILSBACK
Dean A. Railsback, son of Walter H. "Red" and Grace B. (Yunt) Railsback, was born January 17, 1932, in rural Norton County, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, on November 12, 2012, at the age of 80.
Dean grew up in Norton County, attended the Hudsonpillar rural grade school, and graduated from the Norcatur High School. He also served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He married Rita Tyrrell and to this union two children were born. Dean was an equipment operator, farmer, and caregiver at the Norton State Hospital and was most recently a guard at the Norton Correctional Facility until his retirement.
Dean was a 60-year member of the Harmonson-Redd American Legion Post #63 in Norton.
Survivors include: one son and his wife, James Dean and Michele Railsback, Norton; one daughter and her husband, Deana and Randy Shearer, Almena, Kansas; two special daughters, Shara and Cathy; three grandchildren, Amy Rae, and husband, Owen Stong, Shyann Grace and Cope James Railsback; two great-grandchildren, Ellie Marie and Bryson Owen Stong; his ex-wife, Rita Minshall, Norton; other relatives and friends.
Dean was preceded in death by his parents and one grandson, Josey D. Shearer.
A memorial has been established to the Dean Railsback Memorial Fund.
