Obituary of David J. Hare
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
DAVID J. HARE
David J. Hare, son of Joseph B. and Ivalea (Ritter) Barnett, was born February 26, 1944, in Norton, Kansas, and passed away in Norton, on October 25, 2012, at the age of 68.
David grew up in the Clayton and Norcatur communities where he graduated from the Norcatur High School. He also attended Northwest Kansas Technical School. On January 23, 1966, David and Retta Bateman were united in marriage in Edson, Kansas. They made their home in Norcatur where he worked as a heavy equipment operator for the Kansas Department of Transportation. He retired in 2006.
David was a member of the United Methodist Church in Norcatur, the Prairie Powder Packers, and the Norton County Saddle Club. He enjoyed working with his wood projects, watching his grandchildren play sports, and spending time with his family.
Survivors include: his wife, Retta Hare, Norcatur; three children and their spouses, Janice and Keith Baker, Norton; Kathy and Eric Wilkins, Holdrege, Nebraska; Joe and Trudy Hare, Russell, Kansas; one brother and wife, Darrel and Alice Barnett, Clayton, Kansas; one sister and husband, Kay and Robert Strevey, Norcatur, Kansas; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his step-father, Lester Barnett.
A memorial has been established to the David Hare Memorial Service.
