Obituary of Ermyl "Dolly" E. Phelps

IN LOVING MEMORY OF ERMYL E. "DOLLY" PHELPS Ermyl Elaine "Dolly" Phelps, daughter of Lawrence James "Hap" and Ella Agnes (Stephenson) Gipe, was born August 5, 1935, in Phillips County, Kansas, and passed away at the Good Samaritan Hospital in Kearney, Nebraska, on August 19, 2012, at the age of 77. Dolly grew up in the Woodruff and Norton, Kansas communities where she attended the local schools. She also received her Associate's Degree at Colby Community College and became an LPN. On February 11, 1955, Dolly and Robert L. Phelps were united in marriage in Norton. They made their home in Norton where they raised their family and Dolly worked for Valley Hope for many years. Dolly was a member of the Norton Christian Church where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years. She also helped her husband manage their business, Phelps Landscaping and Floral. Survivors include: her mother, Agnes Gipe, Norton; her husband, Robert "Bob" Phelps, Norton; one son, Arlin Phelps, Norton; one daughter, Alane, and her husband, Jerry Ruhs, of Nebraska; other relatives and friends. Dolly was preceded in death by her father, Hap Gipe, and her twin sister, Erma Evelyn Belden. A memorial has been established to the Dolly Phelps Memorial Fund.
