Obituary of Jim Harold Darling
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
JIM H. DARLING
Jim Harold Darling, son of Harold George and Fern Lola (Purvis) Darling, was born December 4, 1927, in Norton, Kansas, and passed away at the Norton County Hospital in Norton, on July 25, 2012, at the age of 84.
Jim grew up in Norton and attended the local grade and high schools. He also served in the U.S. Army. On March 27, 1948, Jim and Loene Bryant were married in Norton where Jim was a lineman and maintenance foreman with Norton-Decatur Electric for 40 years. Loene passed away October 4, 1980. Jim later married Marvis Bowen on October 11, 1981. They made their home in Beaver City, Republican City, and Alma, Nebraska, and also Zapata, Texas.
Jim had attended the Norton Christian Church and was a member of the Harmonson-Redd American Legion Post #63 in Norton. He enjoyed fishing, golfing, and traveling and dearly loved his children and grandchildren.
Survivors include: two sons, Ronald, and wife, Becky Darling, Colby, Kansas; Jerry, and wife, Lora Darling, Norton; three step-children, Kurt, Wayne, and Karla; one sister, Judy Messer, Norman, Oklahoma; six grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other relatives and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents, his two wives, and one son, Kevin, in 1958.
Memorials have been established to the Harmonson-Redd American Legion Post #63 and Whispering Pines in Norton.
