Obituary of Marjory F. Roe
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
MARJORY FRANCES ROE
Marjory (Marge) Frances Roe, 92 years old, the oldest of five children of James Frederick(Fred) and Hazel Standish, died July1, 2012, at Olathe Good Samaritan Center, Olathe, KS. She was born October 4, 1919 five miles west of Holton, KS on a farm. The family moved to Calvert, KS in Norton County in 1929 where she lived with her family in the area and graduated from Almena High School in 1938.
Marge married Walter (Bub) Roe in 1938. They lived on a farm on the Sappy Creek from 1938 to 1946. Marge and Bub moved back to the Almena area in 1946 where they lived for over 56 years raising two sons, James and Steven and four foster children, Dennis Wayne, Jimmy Wayne, Brenda Wayne Ahmed and Cheryl Wayne McCandless.
Marge was very involved in the community and a number of local clubs. Even though her last few years were spent away from her hometown of Almena, she carried a deep and lasting love in her heart for all of her family and friends.
Survivors include: Son, Steven and wife Judy Roe, Olathe, KS; sister Janice and husband Gene Gutzman, Almena, KS: daughter-in-law, Vernita Roe, Logan, KS: four foster children, Dennis and wife Linda Wayne, Shawnee, KS, Brenda and husband Imitiaz Ahmed, Baltimore, MD, Jimmy Wayne of the Philippines, Cheryl and husband Danny McCandless, LaPorte TX, 13 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son Jim, and a granddaughter Mandy.
A memorial has been established to the Child and Family Ministry - Chang Mai, Thailand.
