Obituary of Dale E. Severns
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
DALE E. SEVERNS
Dale E. Severns, son of Oran E. and Ida Margaret (Wetzler) Severns, was born April 6, 1923, northeast of Norton, Kansas, and passed away at the Andbe Home in Norton, on January 9, 2012, at the age of 88.
Dale grew up on the family farm, attended the Start School District #10, and graduated from the Norton Community High School with the class of 1941. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II from 1944 until 1946. On February 7, 1948, Dale and Mary Katherine Hoppes were united in marriage in Phillipsburg, Kansas. They made their home in Norton County where they farmed and later moved into Norton. Katherine passed away November 16, 2011.
Dale was a member of the Almena Congregational Church, the American Legion, VFW, and the Farmer's Union.
Survivors include: one sister, Nina Melroy, Norton; several nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, five brothers, and four sisters.
Memorials have been established to the Andbe Home, Almena Congregational Church, and Hospice Services of Norton County.
