Obituary of Mildred Fern Engelhardt
IN LOVING MEMORY OF
MILDRED F. ENGELHARDT
Mildred Fern (Bantam) Engelhardt, daughter of Sylvester L. and Myrtle (Posey) Bantam, was born January 17, 1922, in Flagler, Colorado, and passed away at the McCrite Health Center in Topeka, Kansas, on June 29, 2014, at the age of 92.
Mildred moved to Almena, Kansas in 1930 and attended the Almena schools. On September 5, 1941, Mildred and Charles "Archie" Engelhardt were united in marriage in Almena, Kansas. They moved to Long Island, Kansas in 1959, where she lived for 34 years following Archie's death in 1982, before moving to Norton in 1993. In 2011, Mildred moved to Topeka, Kansas to be near her family.
Mildred was a member of the Rebekah Lodge for over 60 years and the Golden Glow Club at the senior center. She loved to travel with Mable Nyland and Hazel Sanddale and running the bake sales at the Don McMullen auctions. Mildred loved her family and her cat Tiger. Her last few years were spent watching game shows and doing her puzzle books. Mildred also loved crocheting.
Survivors include: one daughter, Colette Craig; two sons, Dewlyn and Steven; 11 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren with two on the way; and one great-great-grandchild.
Mildred was preceded in death by: her parents; husband, Charles Archie; two brothers and one sister.
